Gasthof Hotel Zur Post | Reviews & Arrival

The Gasthof Hotel Zur Post in Herrsching am Ammersee is one of those addresses where search and experience are very closely linked. Those looking for information, reviews, arrival details, or parking usually want to quickly understand what makes this traditional place special: a historic house with over 500 years of history, a hotel with individual rooms, a restaurant with Bavarian-Austrian cuisine, a lively beer garden, and suitable spaces for celebrations or meetings. This mix makes the Post a versatile address for vacationers, business travelers, families, and guests who want to eat well or stay stylishly at Ammersee. The house is located at Andechsstraße 1 in Herrsching, on the eastern shore of Ammersee, and is easily accessible by car as well as by S-Bahn. At the same time, one can already sense at first glance that this is not just any accommodation, but a place with a developed identity, regional cuisine, and a lot of atmosphere. Reviews, Information, and First Impressions

The search behavior around the name Gasthof Hotel Zur Post clearly shows what visitors pay particular attention to: They not only want to find a place but also want to get a feel for how the house operates, how it feels, and whether it fits their occasion. Here, the Post impresses with a profile that appeals to many target groups simultaneously. The official website presents the house as a friendly place for vacations, business trips, relaxation, adventure, parties, and meetings. Additionally, there are 17 comfortable rooms in a fully restored building, a restaurant, a beer garden, a terrace, and several rooms for events. This range is important because it describes the character of the house very well: The Post is not just a place to stay overnight, but a multifaceted inn with a clear focus on hospitality and comfort. Those looking for information usually want to know exactly that: Can you eat well there? Is the house suitable for families? Are there rooms for celebrations? How much history is behind the name? The answers to these questions are clearly visible on the website, making it easy to get started. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/))

A second point that plays a significant role in information and review inquiries is the mix of tradition and reliability. The Post positions itself not as a modern design hotel but as a Bavarian inn with authentic character, warm ambiance, and personal approach. On the contact page, the innkeeper Elisabeth, together with the service team, welcomes guests and refers to phone, email, fax, as well as online booking for rooms and tables. This appears deliberately uncomplicated and direct, which is an important signal for searchers: Here, the reservation is not cumbersome but clearly structured. The mention of feedback opportunities on review platforms also shows that the house values feedback and takes the experiences of its guests seriously. For the search intent around reviews, this means: Those who want to orient themselves in advance will find a business that communicates openly, offers multiple contact methods, and conveys a clear idea of what kind of stay one can expect. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/contact/))

In practice, this means for visitors: The Post is suitable for people who are not just looking for a place to sleep or a table but for an address with history, structure, and a personal atmosphere. The house is large enough for many occasions but remains approachable through its individual rooms, various dining areas, and traditional design. So, those looking for information or reviews receive not just an evaluation but a pretty clear orientation: The Gasthof Hotel Zur Post stands for Bavarian hospitality, multifaceted use, and a location that is sensible for both visiting Ammersee and stays in the region. That is exactly why the search combination of name, Herrsching, information, and reviews is so strong: It leads to a house that convinces with substance rather than mere staging. Arrival and Parking at Andechsstraße 1

When it comes to arrival, the Gasthof Hotel Zur Post scores particularly with its easily findable location. According to the official directions, the light yellow building is located at a triple intersection on the main road, shortly after the entrance to Herrsching. Those coming from Munich via Seefeld will find the house not hidden in a side street but directly at a clearly described orientation situation. For drivers, it is also helpful that the arrival page provides specific route instructions: coming from Munich via the A96 with exit Oberpfaffenhofen and further via Weßling and Seefeld, coming from Lindau via the A96 with exit Inning am Ammersee and further via Inning and Breitbrunn to Herrsching. Such details are particularly valuable for guests arriving with luggage, family, or a tightly scheduled appointment who do not want to search on-site. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/how-to-find-us/?utm_source=openai))

The connection to public transport is also very good. The Herrsching train station is the terminus of the S-Bahn line S8 and can be reached from the Post in a maximum of about 10 minutes on foot; the regional tourism site even describes the S-Bahn as being reachable in about 5 minutes on foot. Additionally, the travel time from Munich main station to Herrsching is stated to be about 45 minutes. This makes the address attractive for day visitors, business travelers, and anyone arriving without a car. For many visitors, this is a real plus because it allows them to combine their stay at Ammersee with a relaxed change of location without having to plan complicated transfers. Those arriving by plane also benefit from a direct train connection to Munich Airport, according to the official site. Overall, it shows that the Post is not only well-located in terms of scenery but also very practical logistically. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/how-to-find-us/?utm_source=openai))

Parking is also convenient: The arrival page explicitly states that there are sufficient guest parking spaces available in front of and behind the Post. A separate mention of parking options can also be found on the regional location page, which lists the house as a business with parking possibilities. In practice, this means: Those coming for a meal, an overnight stay, or a celebration usually do not have to first worry about an external parking garage. This is an important comfort factor, especially for family celebrations, weddings, or longer restaurant visits. The combination of a clear street location, good public transport connection, and available parking makes the Gasthof Hotel Zur Post particularly flexible. This is also relevant from an SEO perspective, as search queries regarding arrival, parking, and directions almost always have high utility value, and the Post meets these expectations with concrete, easily understandable information. Rooms, Amenities, and Overnight Stays in the Historic House

The hotel offering of the Post has deliberately remained small enough to maintain personality and large enough to cover various needs. The website states that the house offers 17 comfortable rooms, each with its own character and modern equipped rooms housed in a fully restored building. The idea of individuality is particularly important: No room is exactly like the other, and during the renovation between 1997 and 2000, natural building materials were used, and older elements were deliberately preserved. This creates a feeling of stay that does not seem interchangeable but makes the history of the house palpable. For guests seeking classic Bavarian hospitality in an authentic environment, this is a strong argument. At the same time, the official presentation shows that tradition is not played against comfort here but is combined with modern standards. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/))

The room categories are clearly structured and tailored to different types of travel. There are double rooms with 20 m², comfort double rooms with 22 m², deluxe double rooms with 24 m², and family rooms with 30 m². All variants are equipped with a bathtub or shower, according to the website. This is particularly practical for couples, solo travelers, small families, or guests who want to spend several nights at Ammersee and combine their day with excursions, walks, or business appointments. The classification of the rooms also shows that the house does not rely on excessive luxury but on pleasant, well-functioning room concepts with personal character. For many visitors, this is the decisive point: They are not looking for a standardized hotel product but for accommodation with atmosphere that remains reliable and comfortable. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/hotel/))

Another advantage is the breakfast. A rich breakfast buffet is included in the room rates, which includes cold cuts, salami, ham, cheese, yogurt, various types of muesli, eggs in several variations, fruit, bread, rolls, toast, coffee, and tea. The information on the pricing page also mentions additional regulations for children, dogs, and late check-out. This shows that the Post is not only intended for dinner or evening celebrations but functions as a full-fledged hotel where the stay is structured and pleasant from the morning on. Especially for guests who want to experience Ammersee, travel to Munich by S-Bahn, or celebrate in the house itself, breakfast is an important detail. Together with the historic backdrop, comfortable amenities, and individual rooms, this creates an overnight offer that is particularly suitable for people who want to combine authenticity and functionality. ([post-herrsching.de](https://post-herrsching.de/schlafen/zimmerpreise/?utm_source=openai))

Restaurant, Beer Garden, and Opening Hours

The gastronomic core of the Post clearly lies in the interplay of restaurant, beer garden, bar, bistro, and winter garden. The official description speaks of a rich and varied selection with classic Bavarian dishes and fresh culinary ideas, served in the cozy atmosphere of the tavern or on the summer terrace. The offer is complemented by Bavarian specialties from the charcoal grill, hearty snacks, and Augustiner beer from the wooden barrel or from the tap in the beer garden. This is exactly the kind of gastronomic profile that many people associate with the name Gasthof: down-to-earth, regionally rooted, and still with the ambition to provide guests with a pleasant and well-maintained experience. The proximity to the Kienbach and the old chestnut trees also contribute to making the outdoor area not only functional but also atmospheric. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/welcome/our-gasthof/))

Especially characteristic is the Postgarten. The official website describes it as a traditional beer garden where guests can sit under old chestnut trees directly by the small Kienbach and enjoy a cool Augustiner. In Bavarian tradition, guests are also allowed to bring their own food, while the bar offers warm and cold snacks. This gives the place a relaxed, very local, and at the same time open atmosphere. Those who are out and about at Ammersee in the summer will find a place where they can not only eat but also linger outdoors. For search queries regarding beer gardens, terraces, or dining in Herrsching, this is particularly relevant because the Post offers exactly this typical mix of regional enjoyment culture and relaxed stay quality. The combination of nature, water, chestnuts, and gastronomic tradition is an important part of the overall picture. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/welcome/our-gasthof/beer-garden/?utm_source=openai))

The interior is also versatile. The tavern accommodates festivities for up to 120 people and becomes particularly cozy in the colder months thanks to a fireplace. The Knight’s Room is designed for up to 18 people and is suitable for a more intimate, festively laid dinner. The winter garden can be used for celebrations of up to 35 people, while the bar and bistro are described as bright, informal areas where one can relax, unwind, and sit together at small tables. Additionally, the opening hours include continuous warm kitchen service and snacks after the regular kitchen service ends. For visitors, this means high flexibility: The Post is not only interesting for lunch or dinner but is a functioning, lively inn throughout the day with several zones for different moods and occasions. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/welcome/our-gasthof/))

Meetings, Weddings, and Celebrations with Bavarian Flair

Those looking for a venue for celebrations or business appointments will find at the Post not only a beautiful setting but also a surprisingly well-structured event logic. The conference page describes modern conference rooms with catering that are suitable for meetings and private gatherings. Additionally, clearly named packages include morning and afternoon coffee, light menus, drinks, and optionally an evening meal. This is an important signal for corporate clients, associations, or teams that want not just to book a room but a complete package. Particularly interesting is that the Post, according to the website, personally supports the planning of a comprehensive package and offers many ideas for seminars, meetings, and private gatherings. This creates the impression of a house that takes event needs seriously and does not just rent out rooms but thinks through complete processes. ([post-herrsching.de](https://post-herrsching.de/tagen-feiern/tagungen/?utm_source=openai))

Private celebrations are also a focus. On the contact page, the Post explicitly mentions family celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, communions, confirmations, bachelor parties, beer garden parties, tent parties, weddings, summer parties, Christmas parties, and corporate celebrations. Additionally, menus, wine suggestions, table decorations, photographers, DJs, live music, celebration cakes, and buffets are offered upon request. For weddings, the website also points out beautiful photo motifs around the old chestnut trees, the pier at Ammersee, and the rustic rooms of the Post. This is important for seekers who are looking for not just a location but an emotional framework. The Post combines the practical aspects of rooms, food, and overnight stays with a romantic, regional ambiance that is particularly attractive for large personal occasions. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.com/contact/))

That the Post is more than just a classic restaurant address is also shown by its additional formats like the picnic cart or seasonal offers. These expansions make it clear that the house thinks of events and enjoyment not rigidly but creatively. For conference guests, this means a pleasant mix of professionalism and Bavarian warmth. For wedding guests or families, it means that they can rely on a business that thinks along from the first inquiry to the celebration. The rooms vary in size, the kitchen is flexible, overnight stays are possible on-site, and the location on Andechsstraße facilitates logistics. That is exactly why the Post is so well connected to terms like meetings, weddings, celebrations, and events: The place not only provides beautiful images but also concrete solutions. ([post-herrsching.de](https://post-herrsching.de/tagen-feiern/picknickwagerl/?utm_source=openai))

History of the Post in Herrsching and Special Details

The strongest feature of the Gasthof Hotel Zur Post is its history. According to its own chronicle, it dates back to 1456 when the Post served as the seat of the Bavarian noble family of Huntsberg and was recorded in the Seefeld archive as a knight's estate in Herrsching. In 1567, Junker Jörg Huntsverger turned the noble seat into an inn. This development is remarkable because it shows that the house has not only been old but has repeatedly taken on a new, hospitable function over the centuries. Later, there were changes of ownership, wartime periods, a protection letter for the then tavern of the Post, and a fire in 1817 that almost completely destroyed the house. The history is therefore not smooth and not museum-like but marked by upheavals. This gives the building a special character that is still palpable today in the inn, the restaurant, and the rooms. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.de/grias-eich/die-geschichte-der-post/))

Another historical milestone is the development as a post station. In 1889, the post expedition and post stable were opened with a big celebration, and in 1902, a telegraph station and Morse operation were added. In 1903, Herrsching received the train connection to the Munich-Ammersee line, and on November 30, 1903, the last post coach left the Herrschinger Post towards Starnberg. Such details explain why the name Post in Herrsching sounds not just decorative but is actually deeply connected to local transport and local history. For visitors, this makes the stay more tangible: One is not simply sitting in any inn but at a place that has long been an important hub of public life. The house's own history is not an accessory here but an essential part of its identity. ([post-herrsching.com](https://post-herrsching.de/grias-eich/die-geschichte-der-post/))

Between 1997 and 2000, the listed building was renovated with great commitment and considerable self-effort and transformed into the current form of the Gasthof Hotel zur Post. The hotel page emphasizes that natural materials were used and old elements were deliberately preserved. This attitude decisively shapes the current impression of the house: It does not want to appear like any arbitrary new building but wants to make its origins visible. Together with the location at Ammersee, the old chestnut trees in the beer garden, the Kienbach, the different parlors, and the long history, a total picture emerges that goes far beyond a mere overnight option. Those looking for Herrsching, Ammersee, Bavarian cuisine, and a house with a historical core will find exactly this combination of tradition, function, and character in the Post. Nadia was the perfect waitress. Bringing us an English menu helped us pick our favorite dishes, without any guesses. I really enjoyed my pumpkin salad. It is on the spicy side. Everything was fresh and delicious.

The cuisine and location of this lovely vacation spot are sublime. A ten minute walk to the lake and S Bahn. We stay every year and do not grow tired of the adventure.
