Religious Dissonance or Harmony? An Evening about Faith, Conflict, and Understanding
When different religions meet, tensions, questions, and simultaneously new opportunities for understanding arise. The discussion evening with Pastor Willi Stöhr invites participants to take a close look at the polyphony of world religions and search for common ethical foundations.
Religions between Diversity and Conflict
In the theater foyer of Augustinum Dießen, the focus is on the question of what role religions play in a world increasingly marked by political and cultural tensions. Religious beliefs shape societies, identities, and value systems. They can provide orientation but are also instrumentalized and politically charged in conflicts.
Huntington and Küng in Theological Dialogue
The evening takes two influential perspectives: Samuel P. Huntington's diagnosis of a cultural clash and Hans Küng's idea of a shared world ethos. It deals with central questions of religious studies, theology, and ethics: Can religious oppositions be overcome? What commonalities connect the world religions? And what contribution does religious peace make to world peace?
Lecture, Reflection, and Joint Exchange
Pastor Willi Stöhr introduces the topic and then opens the discussion. The exchange provides space for different viewpoints, personal faith experiences, and a respectful engagement with religion, spirituality, and social responsibility. A calm atmosphere supports focused listening and open dialogue.
A Faith Experience for Interested Individuals
The discussion evening is aimed at people who are interested in religions, interreligious dialogue, world ethos, and peaceful understanding. Prior knowledge is not required. The focus is on encounter, reflection, and the joint search for ways to understand religious diversity as an opportunity for mutual understanding.
Visitors can expect an inspiring evening with professional introduction, theological food for thought, and personal exchange. Those who wish to reflect on the polyphony of religions not just from a distance, but in direct conversation, will experience a special evening of encounter and reflection in Dießen.
