When history begins to shine on the facade
With The Museum Shines, the historic Wersonhaus in Gilching transforms into an atmospheric stage for light, image, and sound on Friday, October 16, 2026. As twilight falls, museum objects from Bavarian and Roman times emerge in large-format projections, connecting historical memory with contemporary media art.
The museum facade as a projection surface
The architecture of the Wersonhaus becomes the bearer of an impressive audiovisual installation. Bright video clips project motifs from the collection of the SchichtWerk Museum into the outdoor space. Image rhythm, color effects, and musical accompaniment create a multi-layered exhibition atmosphere, in which the building itself evolves into a total work of art.
History to see, hear, and participate
The focus is on the interactive installation Do you know this one? – History(ies) to Guess. Children and adults are invited to recognize terms and jointly discover historical contexts. In this way, the format connects aesthetic experience with cultural education and makes archaeology immediately accessible.
Word, image, and music in dialogue
The program is framed by creative contributions from the WortReichen. Under the yearly motto together.WEact, the texts provide food for thought and expand the projections with a literary layer. The combination of painting and image quotes, media installation, language, and music opens a sensual access to the past and present.
An art experience with free admission
The performances are repeated on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, allowing entry between 7:30 PM and 10:00 PM at any time. A presentation lasts about 25 minutes. Concurrently, the SchichtWerk Museum opens its spaces and invites deeper exploration of the works.
Conclusion: History comes alive
The Museum Shines offers a special art experience for families, history enthusiasts, and anyone wanting to experience media art in an unusual setting. The shining facade, historical imagery, and interactive presentation make the visit a cultural enrichment. Those wanting to experience the aesthetic experience of light art and museum history directly should not miss this nocturnal spectacle in Gilching.
