Dießen in the Mirror of Time: A Historical Journey Through 700 Years
How old is Dießen, and what stories do its streets, houses, and people hold? The exhibition Dießen in the Mirror of Time. Fragments, Finds, Stories invites you to explore the past of the place from unusual and personal perspectives at the Cultural Forum Blaues Haus.
Historical Traces and Personal Memories
The Market Archive Dießen presents historical documents, old views of the town, plans and paintings, models, as well as personal memorabilia. The selected objects vividly illustrate history: They tell of everyday life and change, of significant events, and the unique characteristics of the place.
From the Origins to the Anniversary Year
The exhibition leads to the origins of Dießen, introduces the local original Carl Vorhölzer, and focuses on the painters of the town. The century-old tradition of anniversary celebrations is also highlighted. Models of steamers and vehicles illustrate how mobility and transportation developed in earlier times.
Dießen as a Living History Book
The focus is not on a rigid chronology but on a polyphonic examination of local history. Documents, images, models, and memories connect art history, social history, and everyday cultural aspects. This creates an exhibition atmosphere in which familiar places appear new and seemingly small finds unfold their narrative power.
Local Green in Change
In addition, there is a documentation from BUND Naturschutz on the development of local greenery. Photographs by Dr. Eberhard Sening show changes over the past sixty years and expand the historical perspective to include questions of landscape and ecological development.
Admission and Opening Hours
The exhibition is open from Friday, October 30th, to Sunday, November 15th, 2026, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2 to 6 PM. On Sunday, November 8th, it will be closed due to a book presentation from the series Seven Times Dießen. Admission is free.
Conclusion: Visitors can expect a concentrated art experience between archive, local history, and cultural education. The aesthetic experience arises from the interplay of images, materials, memories, and historical contexts. Anyone who wants to not just see Dießen but understand it should definitely visit this exhibition in the Blaues Haus live.
